This photographic inspiration is fromĀ Frank Doorhof.
I mapped out the colors and lines that I wanted to follow on the headpiece from the photograph. After looking at what I had drawn I can see why the design is successful. It has perfect balance in color and weight. I think it is a good model to emulate.
I started creating petals for the flowers with fabric, wire, and hot glue. when I put them together I realize they might be too pointy. I think the flower petals need to be more rounded as to not point into the face.
Bigger for a set design?
I’ve been studying what makes a successful set design and many designs include elements of the background brought to the outfit, so let’s take some of the outfit and put it into the background. The model has to be related to the setting somehow. I was thinking about getting a heavier wire and making giant petals that could be attached to a tree line to form large flower backgrounds.
